Slop refers to AI-generated content churned out at scale with no review and no added value: hollow texts, generic images, approximate answers published to fill space. The term, coined in 2024 on the model of “spam”, has become the name for the decline in the quality of online content. For a business, slop is expensive in credibility: a reader or customer who spots sloppy content stops trusting the source.
